This yarn is perfect for sweaters by Elenor Mortensen<\/a>.<\/h4>\n

I get the yarn directly from the participating alpaca farmers from Peru, with whom we (especially Delia from Fina Esencia<\/a>) started this project. As a shearing is always processed by one family, it is largely ensured that a batch always comes from one alpaca.<\/h4>\n

The yarn is completely processed and finished on site by the farmers, which is very often simply not the case. The yarn was spun by different people. However, I make sure that I always dye a color batch from yarn that was also spun by one person. For this reason, the base color and contrast may have different “drillings”. When knitting the base color, make sure that you thread in a subsequent skein in good time, as even the skeins take on the color pigment differently due to their natural texture. But that is precisely the charm of this yarn.<\/h4>\n

A few details:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

<\/i> When “shearing” the alpacas, care is taken to ensure that long hair remains so that the animals do not freeze.<\/h4>\n

<\/i> The animals live in large herds close to the farmers and are sometimes a real part of the family<\/h4>\n

<\/i> Only fibers from 1 animal are used for spinning, i.e. not mixed fleeces, so that the fibers are very long. This makes the yarn extremely tear-resistant and nothing “picks out”, so the yarn is simply softer and not “scratchy” <\/h4>\n

<\/i> The yarn is dyed by me in small batches with heavy metal-free colors. These colors are not “garish” and can actually always be combined with each other, as the dyes are very harmonious <\/h4>\n

    This wonderful initiative promotes the use of alpaca wool, which comes from free-range animals that live at an altitude of around 4000 meters in the province of Huancavelica. The alpacas are kept by regional farmers and all the processing – from shearing, washing and carding to hand spinning – is carried out by these family businesses. We are a small group of people who have come together to enable the participating families to make a living from their direct marketing. The project is sustainable and fair throughout, which is very important to everyone involved in the initiative. With every purchase, you not only support the local economy, but also contribute to the preservation of traditional craftsmanship and the promotion of social justice.<\/div><\/div><\/h4>\n
